Around the year 2000 I was invited to write about this hotel for my golf magazine. The Gritti Palace is a 15th-century doge’s palace right on the Grand Canal, opposite the church of Santa Maria della Salute. The terrace on the water, the rooms with Murano chandeliers and silk fabrics, the service – simply the best.
From the hotel it is a three-minute walk to St Mark’s Square, and the hotel’s own boat takes you to the Lido, where the Circolo Golf Venezia is.
