Single-storey hotel with 42 rooms in the middle of the Grindavík lava field, just two kilometres from the Blue Lagoon and barely 20 minutes from Keflavík airport. Max's Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus a bar, spa with sauna and steam room, 24-hour gym, free parking and an EV charging point.

The best part: the northern lights wake-up call. If you wish, you will be woken at night as soon as the aurora appears in the sky.

Why I recommend itStraight from the night flight into the lagoon, then to bed – and the next morning, well rested, onto the Ring Road. Iceland cannot start any better than this.
