A lovely hotel out of season or for spending the winter. The Flag lies between Estepona and Marbella on the Costa del Sol, adults only, with pool, garden and the beach a few minutes away. There are a dozen golf courses around the hotel, and Gibraltar, Ronda and Marbella are day trips.

From November to March it is pleasant here at 17 to 20 degrees, prices are low, and you have the coast almost to yourself. My second tip for Estepona alongside the Grand Hotel Las Dunas.

Why I recommend itQuiet, grown-up and affordable – a good choice for a few weeks of winter on the Costa del Sol.
